Our standard sizes are:
A4 (210 x 297mm)
A5 (148 x 210mm)
DL (99 x 210mm).
This is the final size once folded and bound.

Custom sizes are possible but they require a custom quote, please Contact Us for other sizes

Select how many pages your booklet has. The number is the total including the cover.

Booklets must be in page sets of 4 pages. If you can imagine an A4 sheet of paper folded in half, you now have 4 pages (front, inside 2 pages and back). So each extra sheet added is 4 pages. So booklets must be prepared keeping this in mind, for example started at 8 pages, 12 pages, 16 pages, 20 pages, 24 pages etc.

Orientation means if the booklet is taller or wider.
A portrait book will be bound on the left side which will be the longer side.
A landscape book will be bound on the left which will the the short side.
Other options including square books or bound at the top are available on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is bleed? And how much bleed is needed for Booklets?

Bleed is area where an image or object of colour runs off the edge of the page (leaving no white border).  For booklet printing, the minimum required bleed amount (or extra that the image or object passes over the edge of the page) is 3mm on each side.

For more information on bleed, visit our ‘Print Specifications’ page.

Whats the difference between a flyer, brochure and booklet?

This is a good question, and gets asked a lot and the terms are often confused and misused.

Generally a flyer or a leaflet is a 1 page single sheet that is printed 1 or 2 sided.
A brochure is a sheet that is folded, whether it be in half or in thirds or multiple folds.
And then there are booklets, these are a bound book of multiple pages which have multiple sheets stapled or bound together to form a book or booklet.

What is gsm?

gsm means grams per square metre. The lower the gsm, the thinner the paper/card stock and the higher the gsm, the thicker the paper/card stock.
A typical standard paper you would use in your home or office printer would be 80-90gsm. A letter head or with compliments slip are generally 100gsm. Standard brochures, flyers or handouts are typically 150-200gsm. Premium flyers, brochures, invitations and postcards are between 200-300gsm. Business cards start at 300gsm to 350gsm and for premium cards go from 400 to 600gsm for specialty cards.
Posters range from 150gsm to 220gsm in general depending on the size and purpose.
If you are unsure what gsm is best for you and your project, we are happy to help or recommend the most suitable for you.

What are print ready PDFs?

Print ready PDFs is a term used to describe how the file is setup and saved.

To achieve best print results, your print file must contain bleed, trim marks, high resolution images, fonts converted to outlines or embedded and transparencies set as required.

For more information, visit our 'Print Specifications' page to download 'PDF present settings' and view 'Export to PDF' instructions.

Can I order different quantities of booklets than the options available online?

Yes! If you require a quantity of booklets that isn't available online, please Contact Us or clikc 'Get a custom quote' on the booklet product page. We will provide you a quick quote to meet your specific needs.

Can i print a booklet with more or less pages?

Yes, currently online the options are limited to 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 pages, but we can do as many pages as required.
Saddle stapled booklets need to be in sets of 4 pages because of the way they are folded and stitched together.

Email us or fill out the 'Get a Custom quote' form on the booklet page and we can prepare a quote for this.

How can I print a booklet?

To print a booklet with The Print Company, you simply upload your design, and we do the rest for you. To learn how to print your booklet, visit the ‘product specifications’ section on our website.

Whats the difference between a self cover book and a hard cover book?

A 'Self Cover' Booklet is where the cover and inside pages are all the same paper thickness.
A 'Hard Cover' Booklet has a thicker cover than the internal pages.
Hard cover booklets provide a sturdier book than can be laminated on the outside cover for extra protection and a premium finish.
